Montgomery College Employee Matters (newsletter nameplate)

Office of Human Resources and Strategic Talent Management | Vol. 1, No. 5 | May 13, 2020

Congratulations to the 2020 Staff and Faculty of the Year Award Recipients

  • Full-time Faculty Member of the Year - Professor Mario Parcan, Applied Technologies
  • Part-time Faculty Member of the Year - Professor Minh Van Tran, Chemical and Biological Sciences
  • Staff Member of the Year - Michael Mehalick, Job Opportunity and Development Specialist (Academic Affairs)
Service and Recognition Awards are an opportunity to appreciate Montgomery College employees who have demonstrated extraordinary initiative in performing a specific task, service to others, or in providing outstanding service over a sustained period of time. These recognition awards, contingent on available funding and approved by the Board of Trustees annually, reflect the College’s gratitude for the exemplary efforts demonstrated by our dedicated employees.

Leave Guidance

Effective May 2, 2020

All regular full and part-time staff, casual temporary staff, and student aides/assistants should report any hours for which they are scheduled and budgeted to work, but unable to perform these duties in a remote environment, as administrative leave (ADM). Reporting ADM leave will not impact the employee’s pay. Accurately reporting ADM leave is an important part of the College’s compliance with the CARES Act and will affect the College’s ability to receive federal funding. All other hours - such as hours worked or other use of leave- should be reported as appropriate. Federal Work Study students should continue to report their hours as they were scheduled/budgeted to work each pay period.
View the full memo and detailed instructions on how to complete the timesheet with administrative leave (ADM).
Employees or supervisors who have questions or need assistance, should e-mail payroll.

Coming Soon: FY2020 Performance Evaluations

This year’s performance evaluations will continue to be completed using a fillable PDF form. You will find that this form is similar to the FY 2019 form, however this year’s version will be divided into two review periods—one reflecting performance during normal operations and one reflecting performance during remote work operations. This was done in an effort to recognize the unusual circumstances presented by a remote work environment. More information on performance evaluations will be sent in the coming week.
