Employee SpotlightOffice of Student Life: Hannah Stocks, Lucy Vitaliti, Nik Sushka
Congratulations and many thanks to these employees in the Office of Student Life on the very successful Virtual Census Festival! This daylong event was held on April 30 and included almost 1000 students, faculty and community members. Participants engaged in hour long activities that included yoga, a brownie baking class and creating digital caricatures. Focusing on the matter at hand, there was Census trivia, a Census Kahoot Challenge, a Census Chat Helpline. Over $1,500 was distributed in prizes for participants which included gift cards for Grub Hub and Amazon designed to address student needs during this time of great insecurity. When asked for more feedback, participants shared the following:
- The amazing quality of every census activity and the level of participation was unbelievable
- The feeling of being a part of something, I enjoyed the brownie bake event, very inspiring
- I loved getting the chance to do something productive with my time like the trivia. It was very nice from getting my mind off from always being in schoolwork!
As a result, 72 percent of participants stated they had already completed their Census, and the College had a great impact on their decision to do so. Despite the College moving to a 100 percent remote teaching and working status, this team of employees faced adversity and created a community building event that we will all benefit from in the future. Thank you, Nik, Lucy and Hannah! —Submitted by Dr. Benita Rashaw, Interim Collegewide Director of Student Life

Maintaining Work-Life Balance
The COVID-19 pandemic has jostled school, work, and home lives all together under the same roof for many families. As we continue in a work from home status, we must remember to take time for ourselves and our families to recharge. Travel restrictions are preventing us from our normal “vacations”; however, we encourage you to use your leave and maintain a sense of work-life balance.

Leave GuidanceEffective May 2
All regular full and part-time staff, casual temporary staff, and student aides/assistants should report any hours for which they are scheduled and budgeted to work, but unable to perform these duties in a remote environment, as administrative leave (ADM). Reporting ADM leave will not impact the employee’s pay. All other hours—such as hours worked or other use of leave—should be reported as appropriate. Federal Work Study students should continue to report their hours as they were scheduled/budgeted to work each pay period.
