Supporting the Student Fund

Thank you to the staff bargaining unit (AFSCME) and the full-time faculty union (AAUP) for their generous transfer of their unused EAP funds to the student emergency funds. Students received assistance in areas such as meeting technology needs, food and rent support, and providing assistance through grocery gift cards to name a few. Read the stories of a few of more than 1,480 students who have received assistance and donate now to support the emergency assistance fund.

Cigna’s Employee Assistance Program Offers Free Support

We recognize that many might be experiencing fear, hurt, and anger provoked by the senseless and tragic killing of George Floyd, and the resulting events unfolding in communities across our nation. Effective immediately, Cigna is offering free telephonic consultation for anyone who is coping with stress brought on by these events. Any member of the community can contact Cigna's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) support line by calling 1-866-912-1687. The line is staffed 24 hours a day, every day, for consultation with a behavioral health clinician. These trained professionals are available to speak with people about how to cope with loss, anxiety, stress, fear, or other issues related to recent events in the community. This service is open to anyone and free of charge. Callers may also receive referrals to community resources to help them with specific concerns, including financial and legal matters.
During times of uncertainty and change, it is especially important to focus on taking good care of ourselves. Cigna provides helpful ideas on physical, mental, and emotional self-care during troubling times. Cigna's Resource Center contains educational tools and handouts for employees along with links to community resources for recovery.
