Maryland Commission for Women Selects Eight MC Staff for “Parade of 100 Maryland Sheroes”

The Maryland Commission for Women (MCW) selected Francine Butler, Dawn Drew, Elizabeth Greaney, Melissa Gregory, Patricia Lopez, Joyce Matthews, Donna Pina, and Judith Taylor, as honorees in the "Parade of 100 Maryland Sheroes" to be streamed on August 26, during the Women's Centennial Summit. MCW sought nominations of 100 heroines throughout the state who made significant contributions to the fight against the COVID-19 crisis and racial inequality in Maryland. Margaret Latimer and David Sears nominated the group stating, “Each provided scholarships, technology, food, and hope to thousands of pandemic-affected and vulnerable students.”

Congratulations to the MC honorees!

Form I-9 Document Verification Now Required for Employees Hired During Pandemic

Federal law requires Montgomery College to have a valid Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9 on file for every employee. Completion of this form requires in-person verification of original documents that establish identity and employment eligibility. The requirements for the in-person document verification were relaxed due to the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic. However, the relaxed guidelines will expire August 19, 2020 and Federal law requires that documents are verified, in person, within three (3) business days of hire or expiration of temporary guidelines. Talent Acquisition Managers will be notifing Hiring Managers of the process that has been established to confirm the verification of documents for employees that were hired while the temporary guidelines were in place, and while the College remains in a remote status.
