Spring 2021 Remote and Return-to-Campus Updates

For the spring semester, most instruction, student services, and operations will continue to be primarily remote. In consultation with leaders and supervisors, faculty and staff who will be working on-site in some capacity during Spring I and II have been identified and scheduled. Many of these employees were working onsite in the fall. Employees who have not been working onsite and will begin in the spring will receive a notification letter from HRSTM on January 15 outlining the College’s required health and safety protocols. Employees who are working remotely will continue to do so until further notice.

A Review of Talent Share

by Carol Burbage, Director
Ackerman STEM Learning Center

We love the Talent Share Program! The virtual Ackerman STEM Learning Center requested and received 15 hours per week in the fall to help host our tutoring room. We had two librarians assigned to us, who were amazing. They knew how to manage students effectively and professionally. The nice thing about having Montgomery College employees join us was that they reported on time, communicated well, and were a great addition to our program. Because of the hours they spent hosting, we were able to provide an additional 15 hours of tutoring from tutors who otherwise would have been hosting. In addition to our hosts, we had a Talent Share connection with one of the staff from the Rockville Campus Mathematics, Statistics, and Data Science Department who tutored for us and provided excellent support.
I highly recommend the Talent Share Program to any unit that needs additional help. It’s been a boost to our program and the students we serve. Thank you, Talent Share!
