Have You Received the COVID-19 Vaccine?

The first set of public health recommendations for people who have been fully vaccinated has been released from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). If you are an MC employee and have been recently vaccinated, please keep in mind that wearing a well-fitted face covering and maintaining social distancing is still a requirement while visiting any of Montgomery College’s campuses or offsite locations. Employees must continue to follow all protocols as directed in the Return to Campus webinar for employees.

Workday Project Continues

With each Workday project milestone, Montgomery College nears its goal of enhancing business processes that generate operational efficiencies. One of these efficiencies is employee self-service (ESS), a feature that allows employees to initiate actions independently. The ESS tool in Workday helps to eliminate time-consuming manual processes while improving the user’s experience.

What’s Now Available in Workday:

  • Review and register for internal professional development and training through the new MC Learns through Workday
  • Apply for open positions through the internal career app
  • View and update current benefits information
  • Create and change personal information
  • Update emergency contact information
  • Request name changes
  • Review position and salary information

What’s Next: Performance to Go Live July 2021

The next project milestone is the implementation of Workday’s Talent and Performance Management function. This phase is scheduled to launch in July 2021. The Offices of Human Resources and Strategic Talent Management and Information Technology are working diligently to ensure another smooth transition. To learn more about what Talent and Performance Management through Workday will provide, and for answers to frequently asked questions, visit Workday at MC.

Update on Overload Pay Dates for Full-Time Faculty

Due to the increase of second-half term courses for the spring 2021 semester, overload pay for full-time faculty is being processed differently this academic year. This year, faculty will receive overload pay based on their spring course start dates. Faculty should consult with their department's administrative aide for information about their pay dates.
As a reminder, first-half term classes started the week of January 25. The classes that put full-time faculty over 30 ESH are considered overload and will be paid over eight (8) pays with the first pay date on February 26, 2021 and the last pay date on June 4, 2021.
Second-half term classes start the week of March 29. The remaining classes that qualify for overload will be paid over five (5) pays with the first pay date on April 9, 2021 and the last pay date on June 4, 2021.
Depending on the department's submission date, the first overload pay date for full-time faculty will be on February 26 or April 9. Please check with your department to verify your first overload pay date.

Talent Share Program Introduces Employee Self-Contribute Talent Form

Montgomery College continues to respond to the challenges of COVID-19 by creating opportunities for employees to share talent and expertise across the organization through the current Talent Share Program. Employees will now have the opportunity to submit talent share requests through the new Employee Self-Contribute Talent form. The employee will need to discuss and receive approval from his/her manager to participate in the self-contribute process. Self-contribute allows employees to identify opportunities that they are interested in that match their qualifications, skills, and interests.
The Office of Human Resources and Strategic Talent Management will make efforts to match employees to their desired assignment; however, we cannot guarantee requests, as the College’s needs take priority.
Questions regarding the Talent Share Program can be sent to Human Resources and Strategic Talent Management.
