One Year Later: MC Strong and Serving Maryland
This issue of the newsletter marks the one-year anniversary of Employee Matters which debuted April 15, 2020 during the early weeks of the coronavirus pandemic. Almost every facet of the employee experience has been touched by COVID-19. The Employee Matters newsletter has become a staple of MC’s weekly work life, given how many changes to work operations and practices have been required by the transition to remote status. It’s one year later and the College is now serving the state of Maryland as a mass COVID-19 vaccination site. MC President DeRionne Pollard, Gov. Larry Hogan, Congressman David Trone, Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and other state and county officials participated in an inaugural ceremony for the COVID-19 vaccination site at the Bioscience Education Center on Germantown Campus. See video.
2021 State of the College
How is the College doing today during these unprecedented times? In Dr. Pollard’s virtual 2021 State of the College Address that aired this morning, she celebrates the successes of the past year and shares some planning for the future. View the address.

Employee Spotlight: Meet Sirena C. Lindsay from OBS
Sirena Lindsay is a contractor at the College who is serving as an operations manager in the Office of Business Services (OBS). She is assisting the OBS team with creating an operations manual utilizing a common approach and common formatting, and a centralized storage tool. The OBS team selected Microsoft Teams as the principal tool to accomplish this work. As this is new to most of us, we are all learning together!
Sirena possesses 20 years of policy and administrative services experience. She has managed the creation and implementation of policies and procedures, maintained the accuracy of content and requirements, and provided training for the products and procedures governed by such policies.
To appease her personal interest in IT, she is pursuing a degree in networking and cybersecurity. Sirena is married with two sons and when she has time to herself, she enjoys reading books—preferably those with pages to touch and turn.
