Search for a New Montgomery College President Begins

On Monday, August 9, the chair of the Montgomery College Board of Trustees, Michael J. Knapp, announced the beginning of the presidential search. The Board has retained the services of executive search firm, Greenwood/Asher & Associates, LLC to assist with the recruitment and hiring process. In addition to the launch of a new Presidential Search webpage, announcements and advertisements are being posted in numerous publications this week.
As part of this process, the Board of Trustees will seek representation and input from the College community. In September, a Presidential Search Advisory Committee will be formed, and open forums will be held to hear the community’s thoughts and ideas about the qualities most important in a new president, and what skills and experience the Search Committee should look for in candidates.
The first vice chair of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Michael Brintnall, will serve as chair of the search committee. Dr. Stephen Cain, chief of staff/chief strategy officer, is working with the board to manage the search, and will provide more information about how you can express your interest in serving on the committee in a separate memorandum later this month.

HRSTM Implements New Strategy to Meet College Temporary Staffing Needs

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Office of Human Resources and Strategic Talent Management (HRSTM) completed work to implement a new approach to meet temporary workforce staffing needs. Most temporary staffing needs are now being filled as contracted services, through an external temporary staffing agency. The use of an agency allows hiring managers to fulfill temporary staffing needs in a more expedient and efficient manner with more direct control over the process. Hiring Managers should work directly with the vendor and procurement to obtain temporary staffing.
Hiring managers should plan to contact HRSTM at least one week prior to the start of a temporary assignment in order to ensure the temporary staff is processed and has the necessary equipment and IT system access before starting an assignment. Hiring managers should also be mindful about communicating in advance if a temporary staff assignment will be extended beyond the original end date to ensure staff are not prematurely terminated in the system. To learn more about why this change was made and how to request temporary staffing, please visit the Temporary Staffing section under the Talent Acquisition and Employment web page on the HRSTM website.
