Board of Trustees Holds Investiture for Dr. Williams
The presidential investiture of Dr. Jermaine F. Williams as Montgomery College’s 11th president was held during the Board of Trustees meeting this week on Monday, March 21. The Board of Trustees presented the College’s presidential medallion to Dr. Williams and formally welcomed him as the next president of Montgomery College.

Former Ombuds Allison Whaley Bids Farewell to Montgomery College
Former Ombuds Allison Whaley left the College on March 18, 2022. The Office of the Ombuds spring 2022 newsletter, which is now available to the College community, features a farewell thank you message from Ms. Whaley, types of change and how change can affect us, and information on an upcoming ethics self-reflection questionnaire. Drive-Through COVID-19 Testing Site Closes at Germantown
The drive-through COVID-19 testing site at the College’s Germantown Campus closed last Thursday, March 17, 2022. Montgomery College partnered with the Maryland Department of Health and Maryland National Guard in providing this testing service to the community since January 21, 2022.
COVID-19 vaccinations and booster shots will still remain available at the Germantown Campus through the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services. Vaccinations are administered in the Bioscience Education Center.

MC Faculty Members Selected for Smithsonian Faculty Fellows
The Smithsonian Faculty Fellowship program recently announced its 2022 cohort. Among the group are two Germantown Campus faculty— Dan Wilson, sociology, and Kate Wilson, English. The fellows will consider the theme “Social Justice in the Time of Pandemic: The Hurdles Behind, the Urgency of Now, and Moving Forward after Covid.” During the spring semester, they will focus on museum learning and pedagogy. In the fall 2022 semester, they will implement new theme-based lessons and assignments that integrate museum objects and collections with required course content.

OBS and HRSTM Provide Support for Workday Business ProcessesOffice of Business Services (OBS)
OBS Procurement Office is hosting ongoing Zoom meetings bi-weekly on Wednesdays to provide assistance to the College community on the following Workday business processes related to budgets:
Human Resources and Strategic Talent Management (HRSTM)
HRSTM is hosting virtual office sessions via Zoom this month to support employees with the new Educational Assistance Program (EAP) request process in Workday. Look for more session in April, upcoming sessions are listed below:
Register to receive the Zoom meeting invitation. Once you join the Zoom meeting, you will be placed in a waiting room and receive personal assistance on a first-come, first-served basis. Please have your prepay requisition and/or reimbursement documents (i.e., invoices, receipts) saved and ready for review and to be uploaded into Workday. As a reminder, all EAP Travel is reimbursement only and therefore not eligible for prepay. Please refer to the Workday training website for more information and resources.

Elections for Governance Councils Begin March 28
Nominations for the 2022–2023 governance councils have been finalized. Voting will take place between Monday, March 28 and Friday, April 8. Access your ballot and make your picks. While you could nominate in any category, you will only be able to vote based on your role (faculty, staff, administrator) and location (Germantown, Rockville, Takoma Park/Silver Spring, and Workforce Development and Continuing Education). Starting Monday, March 28, you can access your ballot and cast your vote. Send questions to College Council or visit the Governance webpage for additional information.

Since the opening of Workday on January 3, 2022, MC Learns through Workday is available again for FY22 required trainings and other professional development offerings.
