When is the 2020 Montgomery College commencement ceremony?
The commencement ceremony takes place on Friday, May 22, 2020, at 10 a.m. on the athletic field of the Rockville Campus.

Who is eligible to participate in the commencement ceremony?
Only students who have applied for graduation and have met the specific requirements for their declared major in the summer or fall of 2019 or the spring of 2020 may participate in the ceremony.

How do I participate in the commencement ceremony?
To participate in the ceremony, you should be a summer or fall graduate or have submitted a graduation application for spring.
Open periods for online graduation application:
Fall, June 2–October 1
Spring, October 2–February 15
Summer, February 16–June 1
Summer and fall 2019 graduates, as well as potential graduates for spring 2020, will receive a graduation packet. The packets will be sent to the College email on file and will be sent via U.S. mail to the address on file (please be sure to check on MyMC that the email and address provided are up to date). The packet will contain important information including deadlines, a link to the participation form, and ticket information. Potential graduates must follow the link provided in the packet they receive to indicate that they want to participate in the ceremony.
The graduate participation website will be open from March 9 through April 10, 2020. Students who miss this deadline and indicate after April 16 that they want to participate in the ceremony, will have the opportunity; however, the following will apply:
They will not receive guest tickets; their guests can view the ceremony in the alternate viewing locations.
They will be placed at the end of the procession line.
They will not have their name shown on the screen in the tent.

Wednesday, April 15–Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus

When is the Montgomery College Commencement Guide available?
The commencement guide will be available online on March 1 at the Commencement website at montgomerycollege.edu/commencement. To download a PDF version of this year's Commencement Guide, click here. We will also mail the guide with Grad Finale details to all graduation-eligible students in early April.

When and where can I purchase my cap and gown?
Caps and gowns go on sale during the Grad Finale at your campus. They are also available at any of the campus bookstores.

Am I required to attend csommencement rehearsal?
We strongly encourage you to attend the commencement rehearsal. The rehearsal is Tuesday, May 19, 2 p.m., in the large tent on the Rockville Campus Athletic Field.

Do I need tickets for my guests?
Yes, all guests, including children (excluding lap infants up to two years old) must have a ticket to attend the commencement ceremony. The quantity of tickets available will depend on the number of students participating in the ceremony. Tickets will be available beginning May 1, 2020. When you log in to complete your graduation participation form, you will see the section for your guest tickets. Please note that strollers will not be allowed into the tent.

When will I receive my diploma?
You will not receive a diploma at the commencement ceremony. (You should pick up your pre-ordered diploma frame at the Alumni Association tent following the ceremony.) Spring potential graduates will receive a letter in the U.S. mail from the Office of Records and Registration indicating when they may pick up their diploma—estimated the last week of July.
