May the Fourth Be With You

A phrase said on "Star Wars Day," a fan holiday that celebrates the Star Wars media franchise and its fanbase. The phrase is a pun on the name of the date May 4 (May the fourth) and the famous phrase from the franchise, "May the Force be with you." In honor of Star Wars Day, here are eight powerful quotes from Yoda, the original wellness guru!
“Do or do not. There is no try.”
“You must unlearn what you have learned.”
“Named must be your fear before banish it you can.”
“Fear is the path to the dark side.”
“That is why you fail.”
“The greatest teacher, failure is.”
“Pass on what you have learned.”
Happy Star Wars Day, everyone!

Part-Time Faculty Spotlight: Edgar Hernandez

By Liz Feldman on behalf of the Part-Time Faculty Institute
If you love to cook, then you know food can be much more than just fuel and nutrition, it can be art on a plate. Part-time faculty member Edgar Hernandez loves to cook and share his knowledge with the Montgomery College community. He became interested in cooking from his dad. His family is originally from El Salvador, and members of his family left the country during El Salvador's 12 year civil war that began in 1979. Read more.
Hernandez teaches Introduction to Food Production in the hospitality management program on the Rockville Campus.

Rescheduled for May 5 Due to Rain
MC Center for Early Education Lab School Annual Art Show

Due to expected rain showers on May 6, the Montgomery College Center for Early Education (CEE) Lab School has rescheduled the 2022 Blooming Artist Gallery Show to May 5, 12:30–3 p.m. We apologize for any inconvenience. The show will be held outside on the children’s playground. Montgomery College staff and faculty are invited to attend. The show will feature children’s artful expressions of the works of Yoko Ono, Andy Warhol, Faith Ringgold, Maria Martinez, Yayoi Kusama, and Claude Monet to name a few. Come and partake in the inspired work of our young artists. The educators of the CEE Lab School have created amazing documentation panels for you to review and reflect upon the children’s artistic journeys. Small goodie bags will be provided and a message board will be available for staff and faculty to write little notes of inspiration for the youngest MC raptors. Masks are required.
