Congratulations to the Employees of the Year!

Headshot of Daniel Jenkins

Full-Time Faculty of the Year:
Professor Daniel Jenkins

Professor Jenkins has been teaching philosophy at the College since 2009, and is tireless in his commitment to making philosophy accessible to his students by organizing the Humanities Day Ethics Essay Contest, hosting the Jefferson Café, and coaching the Montgomery College Ethics Bowl Team.  He recently partnered with colleagues in science, engineering, and technology to develop a modern application of ethics to these fields, resulting in special sessions of the “Introduction to Ethics” course aimed at the specific needs of students in engineering, computer science, and cybersecurity.

Professor Kelly Livernoche

Professor Livernoche has been an integral team member in the Biology Department since she first began teaching at Montgomery College in spring 2019. In addition to her excellence in the classroom and student impact, Ms. Livernoche volunteered to convert six of eight biodiversity labs into a remote format when the COVID-19 pandemic forced the College into teaching and learning remotely—thus making substantial contributions to student learning.

HRSTM and ComPsych Offer Webinar: “Mental Health Awareness for Leaders”

The Office of Human Resources and Strategic Talent Management (HRSTM) and ComPsych are pleased to announce the first of four employee assistance webinars available to all Montgomery College employees. “Mental Health Awareness for Leaders” is targeted to leaders who are managing individuals who may be struggling with stress, anxiety, depression and other mental health concerns can be a difficult balancing act. Managers often feel uncomfortable in this aspect of their role and may lack the important skills of “emotional management.” This course covers ways employees may present their distress and offers insights and strategies on forging supportive empathic alliances within the role of manager. Participants are also given information on how to refer employees to the Employee Assistance Program. Register today.
For more information on each webinar and to see the schedule and register, visit the MC Cares/Faculty and Staff Assistance Program.

Self-Disclosure Requests Coming to Your Workday Inbox

Montgomery College is committed to diversity and nondiscrimination and supports employment opportunities for veterans and qualified individuals with disabilities. Therefore, we are asking employees to self-identify if they are a veteran and if they have or have ever had a disability. This information serves as a basis to facilitate diversity and inclusion dialogue at all levels, create programs and allocate resources to support diverse and underrepresented groups. On Thursday, May 19, employees will receive two inbox items in Workday—one asking them to self-identify as a veteran and the other asking them to self-identify as an individual with a disability.
Identifying yourself as an individual with a disability or a veteran is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer will be maintained confidentially and not be seen by selecting officials or anyone else involved in making personnel decisions. Completing the forms will not negatively impact you in any way.
Because either status may change at any time, we ask all our employees to update their information at least every five years.
