ELITE Offers More Summer Professional Development Sessions for Staff on July 14

The Office of E-Learning, Innovation, and Teaching Excellence (ELITE) recently launched a new initiative, the Summer Staff Professional Development program on June 30, to provide a rich variety of one‑hour training sessions designed for Montgomery College staff. The sessions have been scheduled via Zoom over several dates in June, July, and August, to give staff the widest range of opportunities to attend as many of the professional development offerings as possible.

Upcoming Classes Scheduled on July 14

  • Improving Your English on Your Own, 9–10 a.m.
  • Work Globally at the Click of an App, 10–11 a.m.
  • Activate Your Creative Super Powers, 11 a.m.–noon
  • Techniques to Develop Effective and Engaging Presentations, 1–2 p.m.
  • Simple Yoga Poses to Support MC Staff Wellness, 2–3 p.m.
  • Music Memory, and Mnemonics: How to think like Sherlock Holmes, 3–4 p.m.

FY22 Performance Evaluation Resources

The FY22 Performance Evaluation process is underway. Self‑evaluations were released in Workday to staff, department chairs, and administrators, the last week of May. Performance Evaluation workshops are available in self‑directed training and webinar formats in Workday. Visit MC Performance Management in MC Learns through Workday.

Maryland State Retirement Agency Offers Pre-Retirement Planning Seminars and Webinars

The Maryland State Retirement and Pension System (SRPS) offers several ways for members within eight years of retirement to plan for retirement at their convenience. Full-day seminars are offered both as webinars and in‑person at various locations throughout the State of Maryland. One‑hour webinars and short pre‑retirement videos are available for those who prefer to plan on their own time and schedule.
All seminars are open to members, spouses of members, and former members of the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System.

Check Out the Employee Data Dashboard Update for July

The Office of Human Resources and Strategic Talent Management’s employee data dashboard provides general data about Montgomery College employees on a regular basis to encourage self‑service to on‑demand information and resources. The data for July is updated as of July 7, 2022, which reflects the summer semester. Updates include general information such as the total employee headcount with a breakdown by employee type and demographic groups. We hope this dashboard will help you in planning, answering questions, and better understanding MC employee trends.

Updated FY23 Pay Date Schedule Available

The pay period and pay dates schedule for FY23 has been updated to include additional information about the academic year pay dates and the summer pay dates. The pay dates for Summer Session I are June 17, July 1, July 15, and July 29. The pay dates for Summer Session II are July 29, August 12, and August 26. Paid holidays are also included in the schedule.
Note that the last day to use or lose annual leave and personal leave is December 23, 2022. Learn more about annual leave accrual rates.

Workday Reminders, Tips, and Guidance

Since the opening of Workday on January 3, 2022, MC Learns through Workday is available again for FY22 required trainings and other professional development offerings. All MC employees can now enter time off, and hourly employees can enter time worked. Payroll and Finance are now fully live. Visit Workday Training for job aids, training videos, and other resources.
