Welcome, New MC Faculty!

Next Monday, August 22, is the official beginning of the 2022-2023 academic year and we extend a warm welcome to our new MC full-time faculty! FY22 Reviews Due in Workday This Friday, August 19

The August 19, 5 p.m. deadine to submit completed and acknowledged FY22 performance reviews in Workday is this Friday. The Office of Human Resources and Strategic Talent Management (HRSTM) is offering workshops and training resources on setting goals to help administrators, department chairs, and staff develop and submit their performance and professional development goals for FY23.

Fall Opening Meeting Set for August 22

MC President Jermaine F. Williams welcomes you to the Fall 2022 Opening Meeting program on Monday, August 22, at 9 a.m. in Robert E. Parilla Performing Arts Center on the Rockville campus. The meeting will be in‑person and also livestreamed from the opening meeting website and on YouTube.

The Fall Opening Meeting program theme is “Enhancing Equitable Student Experiences.” Hear the President’s Address from Dr. Williams, a student panel discussing their MC student experience, and updates on institutional goals. In addition, three door prizes will be offered.

Anti-Racist Training: The Journey Towards Becoming an Anti-Racist Institution

Wednesday, August 24

The Office of Equity and Inclusion officially launches its first Collegewide anti-racist training, “The Journey Toward Becoming an Anti-Racist Institution,” for the 2022-23 academic year. The training takes place in-person during Professional Week on Wednesday, August 24, 2 to 4 p.m. in the Theatre Arts Building, Rockville Campus.
The anti-racist training is FY23 required training for all Montgomery College employees to promote social justice, radical inclusion, and racial equity within the College and the broader community, and continues the Board of Trustees focus on the journey to being an anti-racist institution. ELITE Offers Events on August 25 During Professional Week

Fall 2022 Professional Week begins Monday, August 22, and kicks off with the Collegewide Opening Meeting. The College and the Office of E-Learning, Innovation, and Teaching Excellence (ELITE) are offering faculty and staff a variety of professional development opportunities during Professional Week.

All ELITE-sponsored events are scheduled on Thursday, August 25, and held via Zoom. Some of the Professional Week presentations will be recorded for viewing. To see all available recordings, visit the Professional Week page on the Hub.

Full-Time Faculty: Are You Interested in Applying for Sabbatical Leave?

Sabbatical Leave Information Session Offered August 26

Did you know that Montgomery College offers sabbatical leave? This program allows full-time faculty the opportunity to engage in various types of professional development endeavors for a period of one semester at full pay or one full academic year at half-pay. All full-time faculty who have completed a minimum of 14 consecutive semesters of service are eligible.
Learn more about applying for sabbatical leave at the Sabbatical Leave Information Session webinar on Friday, August 26, 2–3:30 p.m. The session will be delivered via Zoom. During this session, you will learn about the process, hear tips on completing your application, and hear from a recent program alumnus.
