“Your Voice, Your MC” Employee Survey and Confidentiality Concerns

We appreciate everyone who has already completed the “Your Voice, Your MC” Employee Experience and Climate Survey thus far and encourage everyone to do so. This survey will help shape the College’s workplace culture and promotes employee engagement, equity and inclusion, and ethics.
We'd like to take this opportunity to highlight some concerns that were outlined in the Your Voice, Your MC Survey–Confidentiality Guaranteed memo.
  1. The survey is confidential.
  2. The survey responses are stored on the vendor’s secure servers.
  3. ModernThink’s survey report to the College will only include aggregated and summary data.
  4. Questions regarding demographics are optional.
  5. Do not include your name or any other information that would identify you.
  6. ModernThink will randomly choose five participants to receive a $50 campus store gift card
  7. ModernThink has a confidential Help Desk where you can get information about confidentiality safeguards and other topics.
Please visit the survey webpage to learn more and complete the survey by Monday, February 20, 2023, at 11:59 p.m.

Please Add a Profile Photo to Workday

All employees should make sure their contact information is current in Workday. When you confirm your contact details through the Personal Information app in Workday, you should also add a profile photo.

The ability to view members of our community within Workday makes the experience more personal and helps identify names and positions with faces. As such, all employees should have a photo in their Workday profile. After logging in to Workday and opening the Personal Information app, click on “Photo” under “Change” to upload a photo that is saved in one of the following formats: GIF, JPEG, PNG,TIFF, or BMP.

The image should be a recent photo in which the employee is the only subject. The employee's face should be visible and in focus. Drag and drop your photo file into the light gray box or choose “Select files” to upload your photo file. Click “Submit” or ”Save for Later.” Repeat this process if you wish to change your photo in the future.

Educational Assistance Program and Professional Development Assistance Program Utilization Update

Please visit the Educational Assistance Program (EAP) and Professional Development Assistance Program (PDAP) webpage for the most recent utilization rates.

Full-time Faculty (FTF) and Non-bargaining staff have the highest utilization. FTF are at 65 percent utilization, and Non-bargaining staff are at 45%. Utilization rates for all eligible employees are maintained on the EAP and PDAP website and updated quarterly. Please note, once the overall maximum limits are reached, the benefit is no longer available for use for the reminder of the fiscal year. Please plan accordingly if you have planned professional development for this fiscal 2023 year.

The EAP and PDAP website is very informative and has all the necessary information related to this professional development benefit. It is a great resource for all things related to the EAP and PDAP, including eligibility, training materials for completing requests in Workday, utilization, taxable tuition and wellness payments, and enhanced FAQs. Please feel free to contact EAP Requests if you have any specific questions.

Employee Spotlight: Meet Yanira Rodriguez!

Yanira Rodriguez is a proud first-generation college graduate who joined Montgomery College in 2019 as the manager in the Office of Advancement and Community Engagement. She manages three community engagement centers, pop-up events, and her mission is to connect the community with the College and provide one-on-one, one-stop service as she firmly believes that “we go where the students are.”
Prior to joining the Office of Advancement and Community Engagement, Yanira worked as an instructor for the Adult ESOL and Basic Skills for College (AELG) program. She also led the Reemployment and Eligibility Services and Eligibility Assessment Grants (REA) sponsored by the Maryland Department of Labor Unemployment Office to assist dislocated workers to re-enter the workforce and find employment.
Currently, Yanira serves on the WorkSource Montgomery Advisory and East County Parent and Youth Engagement Advisory boards, where she oversees programs and makes recommendations to ensure that Montgomery County residents have equal access to their programs, regardless of their socioeconomic background, race, or place of origin.
Yanira has been selected from the Montgomery College President’s Office to work on the Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation (TRHT) Campus Center action plan and has facilitated three racial healing circles to create a radical, inclusive community by addressing race and racism through narrative change, relationship building, and equitable policies and practices.
Yanira is a proud alumna of the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico, where she earned her master’s degree in educational counseling and her bachelor’s degree in bilingual education K–12 and special education.
In her spare time, Yanira enjoys yoga, meditating, cycling, and hiking. When asked if she could have one “bucket list” item fulfilled tomorrow, she says she'd like to to “bring all of humanity together and not treat one another differently based on race.”
