Employee Spotlight: Meet Dr. Jorinde Van den BergMeet Dr. Jorinde Van den Berg, an esteemed faculty member at MC since 1999, who specializes in teaching English Language for Academic Purposes (ELAP) to non-native speakers. With over 20 years of experience, Jorinde has become a valuable member of the English department, teaching advanced-level courses and serving as the chair of ELAP twice between 2007–2011 and 2014–2022.
Jorinde’s passion for teaching and helping students develop critical thinking skills and their own voices is evident in her classes. She holds a Ph.D. in British Literature and a bachelor's degree in French from the Netherlands, which she utilizes to provide students with a high-quality learning experience.
Jorinde loves her faculty and staff colleagues at MC, because they deeply care about the young generation and its impact on society and the world. Jorinde’s love of stories extends beyond the classroom. She recently completed a 1,200-page manuscript titled “Kairos’ Muses,” a trilogy based on WWII stories of people she either knew or researched for years. In her free time, Jorinde enjoys traveling and learning about other cultures.
Let’s give a round of applause to Jorinde for her outstanding contributions to MC and her dedication to helping students succeed.
