#YouBelongHere at Montgomery College
One of the objectives of MCTV’s #YouBelongHere campaign is to foster a community where everyone feels welcomed, accepted, and heard. Betsy Flores, an English as a Second Language instructor with WDCE's Adult ESOL and Literacy Grant Program, is a strong proponent of this philosophy and this week’s #YouBelongHere spokesperson.
A veteran ESL instructor, Betsy finds her students to be “amazing! They have gone through great lengths to be here. Now they are working so hard every day to come to school and learn, on top of their jobs and taking care of their families. They inspire me every day.” Betsy applauds MC’s DEI efforts. “This is exactly the kind of reason why I love my job here. I'm grateful to be a part of a community that fosters inclusion.”
- Share a picture of yourself to be featured in the #YouBelongHere mosaic and/or
- Share a personal statement describing your experience of belonging at MC, what made you feel you belong here, how you found acceptance at MC, or your personal definition of diversity and inclusion.

Master the Art of Posture During National Correct Posture Month
As we celebrate National Correct Posture Month in May, let’s delve into dynamic posture, which governs your movements, and static posture, which influences your stillness.
Correct posture should maintain the natural curves in your back. Your head should be above your shoulders, and the top of your shoulders should be over the hips.
To improve your posture, pay attention to it throughout the day; consider setting a timer to check your posture. When sitting, ensure your hips and thighs are parallel to the floor and have a back support or pillow behind you. Imagine you are wearing a crown that should not fall off. If sitting, switch positions frequently and take brief movement breaks. Avoid crossing your legs and keep your feet on the floor. Check your shoulders, which should be relaxed and not hunched over.

Emergency Evacuation Accommodation It is important for all employees to have an emergency evacuation plan in place in the event of an emergency. Those who may need assistance during an evacuation due to a disability should consider identifying themselves to employers and building managers to aid in the planning process.
