Reminder: How Salary Adjustments Affect Your Benefits

Any time there is a change to your annual base salary, benefits that are salary-based will change in terms of coverage and deduction/contribution (basic life insurance, optional life insurance, long-term disability, and pension/optional retirement plan).
If you are already at the maximum for basic and/or optional life insurance, coverage and deductions will not change. If you have any questions, please contact HRSTM Benefits.

FY24 Classification and Compensation Study Moves Forward

The Office of Human Resources and Strategic Talent Management announced last week that the FY24 Classification and Compensation Practices Study is underway. In June, the classification and compensation team began working on migrating position information from Job Wizard to Workday. This work was required as the first phase of the study sets the foundation for the project. As the phase I work is nearing completion, detailed information will be forthcoming.
The next phase of the study will focus on faculty, staff, and administrators market assessments, pay structures, compensation practices, and related policies and procedures. We will reach out to thought partners and employee groups to gather insights to inform this important work.
We encourage you to periodically visit the HRSTM FY24 Classification and Compensation Practices Study webpage for updates as the project progresses.

#YouBelongHere at Montgomery College

Richard Szwerc is a prime example of the excellent instructors at MC. How does he describe the students he encounters? “We have students from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances. Some have stable, prosperous families, and some are new immigrants who have fled a rough environment. Every class has a wide range of needs. I’m continually impressed by how well our faculty come to know their students and how we all gladly make allowances to work with the students’ circumstances. Although I may only know a student for a few semesters, I am aware of how my class might have a long-term impact on them. These students are soon to be the leaders of our society.”
Professor Szwerc is a member of the Engineering, Physical, and Computer Sciences Department at the Rockville Campus.
He is the recipient of MC’s 2022 Outstanding Part-time Faculty Award as well as the recipient of the 2022 NISOD Excellence Award, a program that recognizes individuals doing extraordinary work on their campuses.
