FY24 Classification and Compensation Practices Study Update
We have been continuing our work on this project, and we appreciate the College community’s support. As we have shared, gathering insights and guidance from the college community is a critical element of this work. Stakeholder meetings have been held with leadership, councils, unions, and other thought partners over the past several weeks. Meetings are continuing and are expected to be completed in early January.
As has been shared, we are no longer using the job wizard. All job information has been transitioned to Workday job profiles. In January, we will be conducting presentations focusing on navigating job profiles and highlights of the related changes, including the new job level guide that defines standard job competencies.

#YouBelongHere at Montgomery CollegeThis week’s MCTV #YouBelongHere spotlight is on mathematics professor Dr. Paul Duty and the opportunities his students enjoy. “My goal is to help students succeed, so I offer a structure that maximizes their chance to succeed.”
Didn’t do well on an exam? You’ll get a second chance in Dr. Duty’s class: “I use online homework systems such as WebAssign and MyLab Math to offer second versions of my exams. If a student does not succeed on an exam, they have the opportunity to see the errors made and take a second version of that exam to try to do better.”
Can’t make it to campus to take an exam? Not a problem: “With the Examity proctoring system, I can let my students take their exams in a proctored setting at home... (this) can make a difference, especially to our many students who work in addition to going to college. Making a difference, after all, is what Montgomery College is about, I think.”
Kudos to Dr. Duty, whose testing strategies create a positive learning atmosphere of great benefit for MC students!

MC STEM Ambassadors Teach Principles of Islamic Geometric Patterns to Preschoolers
After attending the art reception for a new Honors Course focused on Islamic Geometric Patterns, MC student and MC STEM Ambassador Kenny Nguyen received an invitation from the Lab School Director, Lynnette Weaver, to host a workshop at the Montgomery College Center for Early Education Lab School (CEE). The CEE Lab School caters to children aged three to five years old. With a short review of basic shapes and patterns, the children worked to create artwork inspired by the principles of Islamic geometric patterns.
The MC STEM Ambassador presented the designs as children watched in excitement to see basic shapes like triangles transform into complex multi-sided stars and circles! Wow! The children did an amazing job!
This STEM workshop is part of an ongoing collaboration with the Montgomery College Center for Early Education Lab School and the MC STEM Ambassadors program.
