Retirement: Maryland State Pension Seminar/Webinar
If you are enrolled in the Maryland State Retirement Pension System (not the Optional Retirement Plan or ORP investing with TIAA or Fidelity) and you’re within eight (8) years of retirement, you should plan to attend a Retirement Planning event. The training sessions are available as both in-person seminars and online webinars. Both formats will cover the same topics.

For support and coaching to abstain from alcohol, tobacco, or other substances, take advantage of the free counseling and resources provided by ComPsych. Know Your Numbers and Join the Monthly Raffle Prioritize your health by staying informed. Schedule your 2024 annual physical to check vitals like blood pressure and heart rate, and undergo necessary screenings, including cholesterol checks. A yearly physical helps prevent issues before they arise. If you’ve had or scheduled your 2024 physical, enter the MC Wellness Preventative Care Raffle for wellness prizes.
2024 Intention Setting YogaJoin us for a 45-minute all-level basic yoga class to set intentions for 2024. While we welcome drop-ins, we invite you to register in advance for a free wellness giveaway.

Awards: Nominations Open for Faculty and Staff Awards
The nomination process is underway to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of our full-time faculty, part-time faculty, full-time staff, and part-time staff.
Outstanding Full-Time and Part-Time FacultyThese awards recognize individual full-time and part-time faculty members who exemplify excellence in areas such as teaching, counseling, and academic advising, scholarly or professional accomplishments, and service to the College and/or community. For the current year, each faculty member recognized with an Outstanding Faculty Award will receive a one-time payment of $2,000. Learn more and nominate a faculty member.
Outstanding Full-Time and Part-Time StaffThese awards recognize individual full-time and part-time staff who exemplify excellence in areas such as customer service, innovation, serving students, and performance. For the current year, each staff member recognized with an Outstanding Staff Award will receive a one-time payment of $2,000. Learn more and nominate a staff member
Each year, the outstanding award committees identify an exemplary full-time faculty, part-time faculty, and staff member nominee and recommend them for an employee of the year award. The recipients receiving one (1) of the three (3) awards, Full-Time Faculty of the Year, Part‑Time Faculty of the Year, and Staff of the Year, will each receive a one-time payment of $5,000.
The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 1, at 11:59 p.m.

Emergency Evacuation Accommodation It is important for all employees to have an emergency evacuation plan in place in the event of an emergency. Those who may need assistance during an evacuation due to a disability should consider identifying themselves to employers and building managers to aid in the planning process.

The MC Wellness program offers online classes and in-person classes for aqua fitness, cardio and strength circuits, desk stretching, nutrition consultations, pickleball, yoga, Zumba, and more.
All classes are complimentary for Montgomery College employees, their spouses, and retirees.
MC employees and retirees are required to register before they can participate in the FY24 wellness program.
