MCTV: #YouBelongHere at Montgomery College
Dr. Karpakakunjaram is the collegewide faculty liaison for MC’s Early College program. In collaboration with Dr. Shinta Hernandez, Dean of the Virtual Campus, and Mr. Akima Rogers, Director for Academic Initiatives, he developed the curriculum for the first e-Faculty Fellowship for Dual Enrollment in 2023. As part of that fellowship, participating full-time and part-time faculty developed high-impact course content for students who earn college credits at MC while completing their high school requirements. This content includes practices such as hands-on activities, reflection essays in e-Portfolios, and digital tools such as AI, Canva, and Kahoot.
It’s MC faculty such as Professor K who help foster a sense of belonging for MC’s dual enrollment students. “Dual enrollment students are uniquely challenged to learn college-level courses taught by passionate faculty who embrace and implement effective pedagogical practices in their classrooms. These students are well-prepared by MC faculty, who help them face the rigors of college education by providing individualized attention to their learning experiences.”

Building an Inclusive Campus CultureMontgomery College is on a “Journey Toward Becoming an Antiracist Institution,” focusing on promoting social justice, radical inclusion, and racial equity within the College and the broader community. This spring, administrators, department chairs, supervisors, full-time faculty, and staff are required to complete this training. While strongly recommended for all other interested employees, if you have already completed this training, there is no need to retake it. The deadline for this training has been extended to June 30.
With contributions from each community member, we can cultivate a culture where students of all backgrounds feel a profound sense of belonging. This required training is one way we are working collectively toward this vision.
Register now and help build a more just, equitable, and inclusive campus for all. If you have any questions regarding this training, please contact Antonio Montano.
