Hispanic Serving Institution Task Force Report
After Montgomery College received the federal designation of Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) in 2021, when our Hispanic enrollment passed the 25 percent full-time equivalent threshold, Dr. Williams created and charged an HSI Task Force with examining ways that MC might strengthen its service to this growing population.
The task force report is complete and available to the College community. It addresses the opportunities and challenges for our Hispanic—or Latine—community. The report includes recommendations to improve Latine students’ access, completion, and post-completion success.

#YouBelongHere at Montgomery CollegeAs the spring 2024 semester comes to a close, so too do the MCTV #YouBelongHere campaign profiles in Employee Matters. And fittingly, the final profile is MCTV Producer/Director Danielle Stescki, who led MCTV’s coverage of “belonging” at MC.
Danielle was awarded MC’s Excellence in Equity Award, staff category, in 2023. Her management team nominated Danielle for her work on numerous equity and inclusion initiatives, including the #YBH campaign, demonstrating a commitment to all seven (7) criteria of the award program: inclusion, diversity, equity, access, antiracism, leadership, and social justice.
“Leading the #YouBelongHere campaign for these two (2) years has been an incredible experience. Together with my MCTV colleague Girma Hagos, we gathered authentic statements capturing the essence of unity within the MC community. This campaign’s success wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Staffan Sandberg, Andre Anderson, Brady Patton, and Betty Francis—special thanks to Melissa Pace and Francine Wyron for their ongoing support.”

Planning Ahead for Student Worker Extensions and Separations
As we near the end of the spring semester, it’s time for managers and supervisors to plan for their student workers’ extensions and separations for the summer and fall semesters in Workday.
For Federal Work Study (FWS) students, please wait for a continuation notice from Financial Aid before making any changes.
To Extend Employment: Ensure that student workers are registered for six (6) credits for the fall semester (12, if an international student). Extend their employment until Friday, December 20.
To Separate Employment: Remember, if you don’t extend the student worker's employment before the assignment end date, their employment will automatically separate on the end date.
