ELITE: October Professional Development Programs Are Here!
Don’t miss this month’s exciting professional development opportunities! ELITE is offering two specialized sessions:
- Faculty First Fridays (1st Friday of the month): On October 4, join us for activities designed to help faculty enhance their skills and spark creativity in the classroom.
- Super Staff Tuesdays (2nd Tuesday of the month): On October 8, staff can participate in sessions focused on leadership, communication, and tech skills to drive professional success.

Register for Montgomery College’s Search Advocate TrainingEnhance your skills in mitigating unconscious bias in the hiring process with Montgomery College’s Search Advocate Training. This comprehensive two-day course is the first step toward participating in a two-year cohort, which offers the chance to serve as a search advocate. The program has been redesigned to include targeted training on the internal hiring process at MC. Upon completion, you’ll qualify to become a founding member of the Search Advocate community of practice, contributing to a more inclusive and equitable hiring environment.

- Friday, February 21 and Friday, February 28, 2025

MC Wellness UpdatesEmpower your well-being and participate in the upcoming MC Wellness employee activities.
Kaiser Mobile Health Van Flu Shot Clinics, October 7–November 11
The Kaiser Mobile Health Van will be on campus each day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to offer free flu vaccines for all MC employees, retirees, spouses, and students.
Flu Shot Clinics:
- Central Services: Monday, October 7
- Rockville: Monday, October 21
- Germantown: Thursday, October 31
- Takoma Park/Silver Spring: Monday, November 11
Employees and retirees can schedule a time in advance, but walk-ins will also be taken. A higher-dose vaccine is available for those eligible by age.
Kaiser Permanente members can also receive a COVID vaccine.
Students may walk-in at any time.

World Mental Health Day Wellness Events, Thursday, October 1
- “Mental Health 101: Let’s Talk About It and Reduce the Stigma,” noon
- Yoga to de-stress for employees and retirees, 12:15 p.m.
- 15-minute mindful movement break, 3 p.m.
- Sound meditation for employees and retirees, 3:30 p.m.

Celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month with MC Pride and Allies Employee Group
October is LGBTQ+ History Month, and the MC Pride and Allies employee group is hosting a variety of exciting events to celebrate!
- National Coming Out Day (NCOD): On Friday, October 11, join the national celebration of LGBTQ+ individuals and allies. NCOD is a day dedicated to raising awareness and embracing authenticity.
- Women’s and Gender Studies Info Fair: Explore resources and learn about LGBTQ+ issues at the Women’s and Gender Studies Info Fair on the Rockville Campus on Wednesday, October 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Save the Date: MC 2025 Open Enrollment and Benefits FairsThe HRSTM Benefits team invites all MC employees to save the date for the upcoming Benefits Fairs.
As Open Enrollment approaches, from Monday, October 21 through Friday, November 8, this is your opportunity to review and update your health benefits or enroll in new plans. Any updates to your benefits will be effective on January 1, 2025.
At the Benefits Fairs, you may explore plan options, access wellness resources, obtain financial advice, and speak with vendors to have your questions answered.

Emergency Evacuation Accommodation In the event of an emergency, all employees should have an emergency evacuation plan. Those needing assistance during an evacuation due to a disability should inform their employers and building managers to aid in the planning process.

The MC Wellness program offers online and in-person classes including aqua fitness, cardio and strength circuits, desk stretching, Monday meditation, nutrition consultations, pickleball, yoga, Zumba, and more.
All classes are free for MC employees, their spouses, and retirees.
Employees and retirees must register to participate in the FY25 wellness program.
