New Guidelines for Temporary Employee Work Hours Under ACA Compliance
Following a recent review of temporary employee work hours, the College will implement changes to work-hour limits for non-benefits eligible employees beginning on Monday, January 6, 2025. To align with IRS guidelines, the College will limit work hours to 25 hours per week, replacing the previous annual limit of 1,300 hours. This change ensures compliance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) full-time threshold, which defines employees working 30+ hours per week or 130 hours per month as full-time.

To qualify, staff and administrators must have been employed at Montgomery College for at least three (3) consecutive years, while department chairs must have completed three (3) full years of their term.
