OEI: Fall 2024 Semester Programming
The Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI) is offering a series of educational programs this fall to promote awareness and foster inclusivity. These sessions are designed to explore important topics such as discrimination, bias, and the importance of understanding diverse identities. We encourage all employees to participate in these free events to enhance Montgomery College’s community commitment to equity and inclusion.
“Understanding and Countering Anti-Muslim Discrimination” Tuesday, November 12, Takoma Park/Silver Spring, noon–1:30 p.m. Explore the realities of Islamophobia and how we can all take action to create more just, inclusive communities. Register here.
“Understanding Jewish Identity and Antisemitism” Monday, November 18, Rockville, noon–1:30 p.m. Learn about the history of antisemitism and the importance of standing against it in today’s world. Register here.
“Defining, Understanding, and Responding to Bias on Campus” Wednesday, December 4, Rockville, 1–5 p.m. Join us for a session on identifying and responding to bias incidents to help create a more inclusive campus. Lunch will be provided. Register here.

Benefits: Open Enrollment Ends November 8
The Human Resources and Strategic Talent Management (HRSTM) Benefits Team would like to remind all benefits-eligible employees that Montgomery College Open Enrollment will end Friday, November 8 at 5 p.m.
All employees are required to log into Workday to review and submit their 2025 benefits elections, even if you are not making any changes.
The HRSTM Benefits Team would like to continue to encourage you to explore the Open Enrollment website, which is full of resources and information to help you navigate the upcoming 2025 benefit changes.
The virtual benefits advisor, ALEX, can explain, recommend, and provide a side-by-side comparison of the College’s health plans.

Celebrate Native American Heritage Month with MC Library
November is Native American Heritage Month and MC Library is excited to celebrate! Stop by any of our campus library locations to view our beautiful Native American Heritage Month displays and borrow books, films, and more related to Native American history, identity, and culture. Alternatively, you may explore our online Native American Heritage guide. The guide includes information about local native communities and landmarks, as well as recommendations for books and e-books, streaming films, research resources, and local organizations related to Native American rights, history, and contemporary thought.
We encourage you to use the Native American Heritage guide for your own personal growth, as well as share the guide with your students who may benefit from learning more about this important heritage month.

Employee Data Dashboard for November 2024
The HRSTM Employee Data Dashboard provides monthly data about Montgomery College employees and encourages employees to access on‑demand information and resources.
The data dashboard has been updated as of November 1, 2024.
The updates include broad information, such as the total number of employees broken down by employee type and demographic category. We believe this dashboard will aid you in answering questions, planning, and identifying personnel trends at MC.

In Step with Diabetes Series Wednesdays, November 6, 13, and 20, 1:15 p.m. Join the In Step with Diabetes series to learn about diabetes prevention and management. This three-part, one-hour class series, led by Kaiser Permanente, will equip you with the knowledge and tools for managing diabetes and making healthy lifestyle changes. Register here.

Caregiver Series for MC Employees and Retirees Tuesdays in November, 2 p.m. This series includes four (4) 1-hour sessions and one (1) 30-minute session, presented by Kaiser Permanente. Designed for caregivers of elderly parents, children with special needs, or those managing chronic conditions, these sessions offer resources, stress management tips, and self-care strategies. Talent and Acquisition: Student Worker Extension and Separation for Spring 2025
As the fall semester concludes, please plan for your student workers’ extensions and separations for spring 2025. Managers and supervisors are responsible for processing these updates in Workday.
For Federal Work Study (FWS) students, Financial Aid will contact you directly. Be sure to wait for their continuation notice before extending or separating any FWS assignments.
If your student workers are part of Raptor Central, student recruitment, or the Office of Records and Registration, please reach out to Ms. Nichole Land before taking action.
Job aids are available to assist with the process:
- To extend employment: Ensure the student is registered for at least six (6) credits (12 for international students). Enter 5/23/2025 as the end date for the extension.
- To separate employment: If no action is taken before the assignment end date, the student worker’s employment will automatically end.

Montgomery College employees are encouraged to Update their Career Profiles in Workday to ensure that our employee data and accurate institutional reports are accurate. Completing this update helps the College better support you.
Please take a moment to review and update your Career/Talent Profile by Friday, November 15, including certifications, training, and learning achievements. You can also upload your resume to streamline the process.

Emergency Evacuation Accommodation In the event of an emergency, all employees should have an emergency evacuation plan. Those needing assistance during an evacuation due to a disability should inform their employers and building managers to aid in the planning process.
